I’m still just in awe of the shooting conditions we experienced in Zion last month. Clearing storms all day long, mountains wrapped in low hanging clouds, beautiful light and all in one of the most amazing locations I’ve ever visited. This image is from Zion’s Court of the Patriarchs. The patriarchs (from left to right) being Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. To photograph this location now, you have to hop on one of the buses and get off at the bus stop just for this spot. There’s also a way to get some kind of red badge to drive your car around that part of the park but we couldn’t figure out how to get one.
I set up for this spot on the beach area. The Virgin River was right in front of me beneath the trees in the foreground, but I ultimately chose not to include it in the photo for composition reasons. I instead wanted to focus on the clouds that were wrapped around the mountains and making their way down in between them. I think I may have to print this one and hang it in Isaac’s room :-).
